European Initiatives
The Royal Society of Chemistry and the Green Chemistry Network
The United Kingdom's Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) is the largest organization in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences. Supported by a worldwide network of members and an international publishing business, its activities span education, conferences, science policy and the promotion of chemistry to the public.
In 1998 RCS launched the Green Chemistry Network (GCN) an international network of people working on Green Chemistry. It is based in the Department of Chemistry at the University of York. GCN produces one newsletter reviewing Green Chemistry activities around the world, and a second newsletter focused on the consumer which aims to bring together retailers, consumer product companies and chemical companies.
The RSC also publishes the Green Chemistry Journal, which publishes "cutting-edge research that reduces the environmental impact of the chemical enterprise by developing alternative sustainable technologies".
The Crystal Faraday Partnership
The Crystal Faraday Partnership is a virtual center of excellence in green chemical technology accessing the considerable resources of its industrial and academic participants to promote lower-cost, sustainable manufacturing for the chemical industry.
