7th Annual Green Chemistry and Commerce Council Innovators Roundtable

The 7th Annual Green Chemistry and Commerce Council (GC3) Innovators Roundtable was hosted by NSF International in Ann Arbor, MI, from May 9-11, 2012. There were over 100 participants representing industry, government, non-government organizations, and academia. Presentations and discussions included supply chain perspectives on the adoption of safer substitutes, sustainability in the auto industry, greening the textile industry, tools for designing and selecting safer chemicals, materials and products, implementing a corporate-wide chemicals management program, and opportunities and challenges associated with bio-based chemicals and materials. The overall objectives for the meeting were to:
- Develop projects and strategies to advance the application of green chemistry and Design for Environment across supply chains.
- Share information, experience and understanding among a diverse group of companies and other stakeholders on developing, adopting and implementing safer chemicals, materials and products.

Product Chemicals Management for Retailers: Moving Beyond Compliance Toward Safer, Less-Toxic Product Lines

The Product Chemicals Management for Retailers Meeting was hosted by West Marine in Watsonville, CA, on May 3, 2011. This business to business event brought together over 40 proactive retailers and other stakeholders engaged in dialog about the challenges and solutions to safer chemicals management in the products they are selling, and explored the business case for why this is important.

6th Annual Green Chemistry and Commerce Council Innovators Roundtable

The 6th Annual Green Chemistry and Commerce Council (GC3) Innovators Roundtable: Advancing Green Chemistry Practices in Business, was hosted by HP in Cupertino, CA on May 4 & 5, 2011. This event provided an open business-to-business forum for participants to discuss and share information and experiences regarding their efforts to lower the toxicity of chemicals in their supply chains. The event also offered a unique opportunity for cross-sectoral dialog to overcome barriers to innovation and to place upstream and downstream pressures on supply chains to motivate safer chemistry.

Beyond Green: Sustainability Action Summer Institute
June 2010
The Lowell Center for Sustainable Production held a five day training workshop in Lowell, MA. Topics such as systems thinking, backcasting and generational goal setting, sustainable product design, elements of a visionary chemicals policy, alternative assessment, and using important databases such as the Green Screen and Pharos were covered. The training was designed for environment, health, and sustainability advocates in government, non-government organizations, corporations, private foundations, labor unions, health care institutions, and universities.

5th Annual Green Chemistry and Commerce Council Innovators Roundtable
April 2010
The 5th Annual Green Chemistry and Commerce Council Innovators Roundtable was hosted by Sysco in Houston, TX on April 26-28, 2010. This event featured speakers and panel discussions of interest to a range of industries attempting to ensure safer chemistry and products throughout their supply chains in a changing business, scientific, and regulatory climate.
